When deciding on buying a laptop the user should clearly understand couple key issues. Firstly, you need to practise some self-denial (e.g. video card performance). Secondly, it is more problematic to upgrade a laptop than a regular desktop PC just because the price of components (HDD, memory) is a bit higher plus possible obstacles with disassembling/assembling. First thing a bought was the IDE-to-USB cable. As a result I got rid of the problem of connecting any IDE devices (I have several regular HDDs + DVD-ROM). Moreover such cable is very convenient if one needs to carry data o HDDs.
Secondly if you a music addict and quality sound is very important for you consider the purchase of external sound card. The sound quality will improve and connect ability will increase as well. I installed the one from Creative.
Thirdly, if the laptop is at least occasionally transported I highly recommend to buy a special bag. It will come handy to store the peripherals.
In general after 3 months of using Fujitsu-Siemens LI -1720 I’m satisfied with this product regardless of certain design drawbacks. After all this is the best model within its price range I believe. It can be applied to solve almost any tasks the PC is required for.
